Are you receiving winks from the Universe?
Hey Friend,
As I sipped my coffee this morning, I noticed something new. You could say I'm a geek when it comes to learning new things, especially when it has to do with why people do what they do. But this wasn't that kind of learning. I noticed something new about energy, my second favorite topic.
Setting the Scene
All my days begin on the back porch, my screened-in (bug-free) sanctuary. It’s a space to be outside and connect with nature. I meditate, listen to my horoscope on YouTube, do a little EFT tapping, and send my clients' appointment reminders for that day.
However, I always begin by tuning into the morning's energy and checking in with myself. I focus on my body, noticing how it feels and what it senses in the moment. Each day has its own unique vibe.
Most mornings, Olivia and I are up and out before the sun rises. In the summertime, we see lightning bugs blinking in the woods. When it's cold, we sit under a heated blanket to stay warm. My husband surprised me with the blanket after he saw me come in one day wearing my winter coat and scarf.
This is When it Happened
This morning was warm, and I could hear the pitter-patter of raindrops hitting the leaves, the concrete walkway, and the stream that runs through the yard. These weren't those little ting-ting drops but steady plop-plop sounds—big drops.
The wind started to blow the branches of the trees as lightning shot across the sky. Every few minutes, another spectacular flash and crack. One one-thousand, two one-thousand... I was a kid again, counting the seconds to gauge how many miles away the lightning was from where we were. I waited for the next big flash of light.
I noticed it during the in-between flashes of lightning. The solar lights lining the walkway turned on... they lit up. That’s odd. It’s always completely dark in the mornings. As I grew curious about this new behavior, they turned off. Then it happened: Lightning spread across the sky, and the solar lights popped on immediately, before the lightning had a chance to finish. Within ten seconds, the lights went dark again.
Winks from the Universe
As I watched the back-and-forth light show, I realized: Just because something is labeled ‘solar,’ which means the sun, doesn’t mean that’s the only way it's powered. I had limited my understanding because of a label. The universe was winking at me, broadening my perception, and widening my world.
The Question I’m Asking Myself Today
Where in my life am I imposing my own limitations?
I’m going to start by exploring the areas where I feel stuck, seeking out my own lightning—lighting up my stuck places. I know the light is there. All I need to do is notice it, embrace it, and let it energize me.
Inviting My Body to Join My Mind
Today, I’ll be in a receiving mode.
I’ll open myself up to the larger energetic landscape around me. I’ll feel into the wonder of what’s around me that can feed my soul and help me solve my challenges.
Affirmation
I welcome winks from the universe.
I notice and delight in the small miracles around me.
